Singapore's core services sector grows 6.6 pct in Q2

SINGAPORE, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Business receipts of Singapore's services industries, excluding wholesale trade, retail trade, accommodation, and food services, rose 6.6 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2025, the Singapore Department of Statistics said on Wednesday.

All industries except transportation and storage recorded higher business receipts.

The recreation and personal services industry posted robust revenue growth of 16.6 percent, driven by stronger earnings in gaming, attractions, and arts and entertainment. The information and communications industry saw earnings climb 13.0 percent, boosted by firms involved in games publishing, data analytics, hosting services, and internet search engines.

In contrast, the transportation and storage industry contracted 2.3 percent, weighed down by weaker performance in water transport.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, overall business receipts rose 3.8 percent on a non-seasonally adjusted basis in the second quarter.
