SINGAPORE, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The consumer price index (CPI) for all items in Singapore rose by 0.9 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2025, down from the 1.8 percent increase recorded in the second half of 2024, the Department of Statistics said on Wednesday.

By household income group, CPI inflation stood at 0.8 percent for both the lowest 20 percent and middle 60 percent income groups, and 1.2 percent for the highest 20 percent income group. All three rates were lower than those seen in the second half of 2024.

The main contributors to the CPI increase across all income groups in the first half of 2025 were accommodation, health insurance, food, and motor cars.

These increases were partially offset by lower holiday expenses and a decline in electricity costs, according to the report.
