Singapore reports 1,461 new COVID-19 cases

SINGAPORE, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Singapore recorded 1,461 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total tally to 253,649, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a press release.

Of the new cases, 1,415 were reported in the community and 40 in migrant worker dormitories while six were imported cases.

A total of 1,421 cases are currently hospitalized. Of them, 204 cases require oxygen supplementation in the general ward, 30 are unstable and under close monitoring in the intensive care unit (ICU), and 62 are critically ill and intubated in the ICU. The current overall ICU utilization rate is 53.5 percent, said the MOH.

An additional five deaths from COVID-19 were reported in the Southeast Asian country.
