BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Spain passed the 5-million mark on Monday after the country's Ministry of Health confirmed 4,485 new cases.

The new cases, recorded for the 72-hour period from 2:00 p.m. Friday to 2:00 p.m. Monday, brought the total number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic in the country to 5,002,217.

OTTAWA -- Canada reported 1,381 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, raising the cumulative total to 1,700,696 cases with 28,785 deaths, according to CTV.

Ontario, the most populous province with a population of 1.4 million in Canada, reported 326 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. No new deaths were reported.

ANKARA -- Turkey on Monday confirmed 27,663 new COVID-19 cases, raising its tally of infections to 7,879,468, according to its Health Ministry.

The death toll from the virus in Turkey rose by 232 to 69,344, while 30,824 more people recovered in the last 24 hours.

TEHRAN -- Iran reported on Monday 7,516 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total infections to 5,868,360.

According to an official briefing published on the Iranian Health Ministry's official website, the pandemic has claimed 125,363 lives in the country so far, after 140 new deaths were registered in the past 24 hours.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore reported 3,174 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total tally in the country to 175,818.

Of the new cases, 2,843 were in the community, 322 were in migrant worker dormitories and nine were imported cases, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a press release.

TBILISI -- Georgia on Monday reported 1,942 new COVID-19 cases, taking its total to 694,182, according to the country's National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC).

Data from the NCDC showed that 4,650 more patients have recovered in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 635,611.
